BP operates all of its main business streams in Indonesia, including petrochemicals, lubricants, and aviation fuel businesses, as well as upstream activities.

Air BP-AKR Aviation

In 2016, Air BP and AKR announced the signing of a joint venture agreement, creating joint venture company PT Dirgantara PetroIndo Raya. It will operate under the name of Air BP-AKR Aviation with the remit to develop an aviation fuel business in Indonesia.

BP Petrochemicals Indonesia

In early 2014 BP agreed to purchase all interests held by Japan’s Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (MCI) and Mitsui & Co. Ltd. (MBK) in PT. Amoco Mitsui PTA Indonesia (AMI), a joint venture for production and sales of purified terephthalic acid (PTA), bringing total BP shares in the company to 100%. The new company, PT. BP Petrochemicals Indonesia (BPPI) has its head office in Jakarta and a manufacturing plant at Merak, on the western coast of Java. The plant produces 530,000 tons a year of PTA, a raw material for polyester which is used in clothing, food and drink packaging and certain industrial applications.

Castrol Indonesia

Castrol is a brand of industrial and automotive lubricants, which has been recognized as a top international brand in Indonesia. Castrol first entered the Indonesian market in 1970. Then, in 1998 PT. Castrol Indonesia was established to handle the Castrol lubricant oil marketing throughout the country. The product brands of lubricant oil marketed are: Castrol Power 1 and Castrol Activ for motorcycles, and Castrol Edge, Castrol Magnatec and Castrol GTX for passenger cars. Most of these lubricant products are manufactured at Castrol's world-class, fully automated 80,000 MT/annum lube oil blending plant in Merak, Banten.
